Sustainability

The project team will certify under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. Administered through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the LEED ^® green building program is a voluntary, consensus-based global rating system for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance. LEED addresses all building types emphasizing state-of-the-art strategies in: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, locations & linkages, awareness & education, indoor environmental quality, innovation & education and regional priorities.

LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. Harper Court Partners, LLC is committed to certifying under several different designations:

• The entire project has achieved a LEED Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) Gold Plan designation
• The hotel is certifying under the LEED New Construction (LEED-NC) designation
• The office and retail are certifying under the LEED Core & Shell (LEED-CS) designation
• Tenants are encouraged to certify under the LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) designation

Project components are designed to achieve high levels of sustainability. Once completed, Harper Court will be among the most sustainable private-sector projects in the City of Chicago.
